Do you know that you can make personal hotspot using iPhone 4? Turning your iPhone 4 as a wi-fi access point is a feature that iPhone lovers were waiting for. Personal hotspot using iPhone as your modem can also be achieved by jailbreaking it. But now Apple has answered our pray and add this awesome feature in iOS 4.3. So if your iOS is not 4.3 then upgrade it right away. But remember iOS 4.3 is only available for iPhone 3GS and 4, iPod 3rd and 4th generation and also iPads. So for user with iPhone 2 and earlier unfortunately this feature will not be available for you. Okay, enough with the introduction let's get to the bottom of making personal hotspot using iPhone 4.

Setting Up Personal Hotspot Using iPhone 4

Setting up a personal hotspot using iPhone 4 is very simple and straightforward. Here is what you need to do:
  1. Open Setting > Personal Hotspot. 
  2. Turn on the Personal Hotspot option by tapping "On".
  3. If your Wi-Fi and bluetooth are currently turn off then there will a message saying that you must turn on your Wi-Fi and bluetooth.
  4. Type the password that you want to use and you are ready to go.
  5. Connect your laptop using the wi-fi connection or bluetooth. You can also use iPhone 4 as a modem by connecting it to a computer via USB cable. If there is a connection made to your iPhone then there will be a blue message on top of it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes for Making Personal Hotspot Using iPhone 4

  • On iPhone 3GS you can only use only connect the iPhone using USB cable.
  • A maximum of five connections can be handled at one time.
  • The personal hotspot will be turned off automatically after being idle for one hour.
