  • aa: the code number for the factory in which your iPhone was assembled.
  • b: your iPhone's production year.
  • cc: your iPhone's production week number.
  • ddd: unique number.
  • ee: the color code of your iPhone.
  • f: the size code of your iPhone.
There are many opinions about the meaning behind iPhone serial number, but experts agreed on the meaning of the first five characters. The remaining six characters are still arguable. Now suppose your serial number is 86047xxxA4S. This means that your iPhone was produced in factory number 86, on week 47 of the year 2010. The last three characters which is A4S, A4 means that the color is black and S is the code for 16 GB iPhone (S=16 GB, T=32 GB).
